Vision

Log Jam, Incorporated

is a non-profit corporation organized to financially and emotionally assist families of Montana loggers, log truck drivers, chip truck drivers, and mill workers critically injured or killed in work-related accidents.

Mission Statement

Log Jam will pay 25% of the fund balance, up to a maximum of $25,000, to the family of a Montana logger, log truck driver, chip truck driver, or mill worker as soon as possible following the loss of life.

Log Jam will pay $5,000 for critical injuries. The beneficiary of this payment must be a Montana logger, log truck driver, chip truck driver, or mill worker critically injured in a work-related accident. The beneficiary must be classified as “critical” by medical personnel/facility or as voted upon by the Log Jam board using established ALERT guidelines as a basis for definition.

History

Log Jam, Incorporated is a non-profit corporation in the State of Montana. The fund was established after the death of Kathy Hardy’s husband, Bill Hardy, in 1987.  Kathy and her daughter, Breanna, received assistance from local friends and family at the time of the accident.  As a result of the greatly needed help, Kathy along with her friend, Doug Brown, established this fund to provide much needed support for others who find themselves faced with the tragedy of losing a loved one.

As with any non-profit organization, we welcome the public to inspect our records and/or books.  Rest assured that the monies are going directly toward the integrity of this fund.  All donations/proceeds collected go towards expenses incurred to this benefit and pay out for timber industry-related deaths, critical injuries, and educational scholarships ONLY.  This is strictly a volunteer organization comprised of community assistance along with the Board members and officers.

The Log Jam Board has a fundraiser event every year on the first Saturday of October.  During this event we have a dinner, beer garden, silent and live auction, blackout bingo, raffles and a dance with a live band.  This is a family event in which all proceeds raised go directly to Log Jam, Inc.

“Since Log Jam 89’, we have assisted 76 families who have lost a loved one or have been critically injured in a tragic timber – related accident..”
